Challenge
Our long-standing relationship with NetApp University, the training division of NetApp, Inc., has evolved from project work to a more consultative partnership.  Our first initiative was to provide a web-based training solution to augment their instructor-led training program. Clarus was asked to provide user experience design, interface planning, supporting graphics/animations, and a design guide to support the instructional designers and course developers. NetAppU provided the content and course development expertise and Clarus provided the design and development expertise.

Solution
Initially, we focused on the need to develop a platform that would support the content while providing an ideal user experience. We wanted the platform to have a fresh design not only with the UI, but also with the graphics and content of each course. To accomplish this we worked with NetAppU to determine the navigational needs of the UI so it would support the content and flow of existing NetAppU courseware. Once this was complete, we turned our focus towards individual graphics, animations, and modular apps to support the content development and allow the instructors new ways of effectively deploying content.

Result
Based upon the success of the program, NetApp and Clarus have continued to deploy revisions that allow the user to drive their learning in non-linear ways, as well as the ability to take course material offline.
